Ambassador Wales Appointment of Faheem Azhar

Ambassador Wales in collaboration with International Convention Centre (ICC) Wales has appointed Mr Faheem Azhar as an Ambassador in Wales and The Middle East. This is an appointment to help drive business into Wales in the form of large events.

Cerys Davey (ICC Wales Liaison Officer) said:

“The Ambassador Wales programme has been designed to encourage influential people in their field to help promote Wales as a suitable destination for International conferences and events – Faheem has already supported us greatly in this quest.

“ICC Wales can accommodate 5000 delegates at one time. The design includes a 4000 sqm pillar free space, 1500 seater auditorium and an abundance of networking and breakout areas, it will also have access straight into the surrounding woodland areas. We are hoping to attract large events from Associations Nationally and Internationally into Wales which will not only benefit the Welsh economy but also help with further research and development into key sectors here. We estimate the economic impact for the Convention Centre will be in the region of £70 million only a few years after opening, and have already secured a number of high profile events for ICC Wales from 2019 to 2023.”

Faheem (Board Member/Director Nad Al Shiba Holding) said:

“It is important to us to help support ICC Wales in this venture in the hope that Wales can continue to thrive in this growing business, with our strong links to the Middle East/Globally we hope to introduce new relationships into Wales.

Wales has strong links to the rest of the UK, therefore, making it a great location for International events which in turn may spark an interest from International businesses to bring their business to Wales. The quality of life in Wales is clear to anyone who has spent a day walking along its coastline, exploring its mountain ranges and experienced the ‘Warm welsh Welcome’.

The economic infrastructure of Wales is sound and the workforce is well skilled in a variety of areas, from traditional manufacturing to life sciences. The level of support available for businesses in Wales is significant and the costs are highly competitive.”

Wales has been welcoming businesses for many years, helping them to thrive, grow and realise their potential. Investing in Wales is also a great opportunity and is an attractive feature for overseas investors who can draw upon the support of the Welsh Government – offering ready access to decision makers and the ability to make things happen quickly.
