For 30 years, Ronald McDonald House Charities UK has been helping families with seriously ill children in hospital stay together. We would be delighted to celebrate this magical milestone with all of our supporters, who have helped get us to where we are now. Here at Ronald McDonald House Cardiff we would like to invite you to our 30th anniversary event in our Cardiff House on Friday 13 September, 3.30-6.30pm. This is a chance for us to thank our supporters for everything you have helped us achieve as a charity over the past 30 years.
As you may know, the Charity provides free ‘home away from home’ accommodation just moments away from specialist children’s hospitals throughout the UK. Often, the best medical care for a child isn’t at the most local hospital and families may have to travel great distances to alternative hospitals which may mean costly hotel or travel bills. The Charity provides a place for families to stay free of charge for as long as the child is in hospital, be it days, months or even years.
In 2017 the Charity opened its first House in Wales. Located in Cardiff, their 30-bedroom House supports families from right across South Wales and beyond. For families staying in a Ronald McDonald House it means that they can be together at what is undoubtedly a traumatic time in their lives. Staying at a House can also help to reduce both the financial and emotional stress associated with having a child seriously ill in hospital. To date, Ronald McDonald House Charities UK has supported nearly 50,000 families and our Cardiff House has looked after 1,376 families.
Refreshments and entertainment will be provided. RSVP to RMHCSouthWales@uk.mcd.com by Friday 23 August.
