Liz Maher comments on PM’s decision to seek a General Election

Commenting on the PM’s decision to seek a General Election on June 8th, Liz Maher, President of the South & Mid Wales Chambers of Commerce said:

“The business community in Wales will understandably be concerned that attention will inevitably shift from the economy and the intricacies of leaving the EU to a potential election campaign. Firms will want to be reassured that the key challenges facing the economy will be front and centre throughout any election period.

We at the South and Mid Wales Chambers of Commerce are calling for candidates in the election to commit, if elected, to ensure the key infrastructure projects that will drive growth across the Welsh economy – building the Swansea Bay Tidal Lagoon, ensuring that electrification of the Great Western Mainline, the M4 Relief Road all happens to schedule and that they will fight on behalf of Welsh businesses during Brexit negotiations.”
